CENTENNIAL, CO – Colorado Natural Gas (CNG) will donate $1,000 to Gilpin County Food Bank as part of the company’s COVID-19 relief efforts. The organization will use the donation to supply nutritional resources to community members in the Gilpin County area.

“Given the impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic, CNG’s generous support couldn’t have come at a better time as the food bank embraced the largest demand in its history handing out in two days what it would normally go through in six weeks,” said, Executive Director, Laura Solomon Gilpin County Food Bank. “Thanks to CNG’s support, the Gilpin County Food Bank can respond to the nearly 400% increase of households that are now needing food assistance.”

“CNG is proud to present this grant to Gilpin County Food Bank,” said Jason Weekley, Chief Operations Officer, Summit Utilities. “We understand that we are all in this together. The Gilpin County Food Bank plays a critical role in the Gilpin County area providing nutritious food to struggling Colorado families and seniors who might otherwise go without during this unprecedented health crisis. Providing these resources is one way that we can support our customers and community members who are immediately impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.”

The company has committed $20,000 overall to COVID-19 relief efforts in Colorado. In addition to donating to the Gilpin County Food Bank, the company is also contributing to Bennett Community Food Bank, Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado, Community Care Foundation/ Aspen Mine Center, Deer Trail Food Bank, Eastern Plains Women’s Resource Center, Energy Outreach Colorado, Grace Baptist Food Bank, LifeBridge Food Bank, Little Chapel Food Bank, Mountain Resource Center, Seniors Alliance of Platte County and South Park Food Bank.

On top of providing financial support to nonprofit organizations throughout its service territories, CNG has also suspended natural gas disconnections for nonpayment and is working with customers who may need payment assistance, arrangements, or extensions.
