LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 5, 2026) – Summit Utilities, Inc. named Kristin Jacobs, a Colorado-based risk manager with its subsidiary Colorado Natural Gas, as the recipient of the company’s 2025 Citizen Award, recognizing her exceptional commitment to volunteerism and community impact.
The annual award honors employees across Summit’s six-state footprint who go above and beyond in serving their communities. Jacobs distinguished herself among more than 100 employees who used all 20 hours of their Volunteer Time Off (VTO), dedicating their time and talents to causes that make a meaningful difference.
“I am proud that Summit encourages me to use my finance skills to become certified as a VITA tax preparer and contribute so meaningfully to my community,” Jacobs shared. “Whether you’re sorting clothes, packing produce boxes, or cleaning up a park, volunteer work builds a sense of community and teamwork. It’s very rewarding to give back.”
As part of the recognition, Jacobs selected Benefits in Action to receive a $250 donation from Summit Utilities. The Colorado-based nonprofit helps individuals navigate and access public benefits, including Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and Social Security.
“It is especially meaningful to recognize team members like Kristin who bring our company values to life,” said Scott Sanders, chief financial officer at Summit Utilities. “Her willingness to use her skills to serve others and her commitment to her community reflects the spirit of giving back that defines our culture. We are proud to recognize her impact and grateful for the example she sets for our team.”
In 2025, Summit team members exceeded the company’s Volunteer Time Off goal, dedicating more than 10,000 hours to uplifting their communities. Among them, 121 employees used all 20 of their VTO hours, embodying Summit’s commitment to giving back.
